Snowy Grand Canyon

It’s almost summer but the North Rim of The Grand Canyon was blanketed with 4 inches of fresh snow on Thursday.

Winter Has Arrived AT The Grand Canyon

Snow, rain and nasty winds were forecasted for the South Rim of The Grand Canyon last Friday. So naturally I had to show up and capture the scene while withstanding the cold, biting winds. Part 1 of 2.

South Coyote Buttes

If you don’t score a permit for The Wave at Coyote Buttes, stick around the BLM office in Kanab, Utah for a chance for a permit for South Coyote Buttes. It takes about 20 miles of driving through sand and tire-piercing slick rock but it is worth the adventure. Part 1 of 2.

Another Trip To The Clay Beds

Had to bring another photography friend to the clay beds at Coyote Buttes. Lian had never seen anything quite like this place.

Colorful Clay Beds

Made another trip last week to one of my favorite places. Clay beds in the Coyote Buttes area of Northern Arizona. Colors are a product of minerals leeching through the Chinle Layer, mostly made of clay.

Wire Pass- Barely Passable

Wire Pass, along the Utah/Arizona border is a prelude to the more famous Buckskin Gulch. Unfortunately, Buckskin was full of water after recent rains so my friends Ali, Thomas and I settled for the narrow Wire Pass.

Even Frodo won’t go in there….

Choice Of Hazards

You have your choice of hazards along this road to the North Rim of the Grand Canyon.

Painting With My Camera

By using in-camera techniques, I was able to produce some artsy images of aspen trees in peak color. See previous post from Fall Colors At Kaibab National Forest
