• A Frozen Willis Creek

  

  I’ve been to Willis Creek’s slot canyon during the warmer months so I wasn’t expecting snow and ice the other day. It made for some slick navigation which shortened our hike. Willis Creek is located in the Grand Staircase Escalante National Monument in Southern Utah.

  This place along the Utah/Arizona border defies description. It’s near Coyote Buttes, home of The Wave, and has similar geological peculiarities. • Colorful Clay Beds

  

  Made another trip last week to one of my favorite places. Clay beds in the Coyote Buttes area of Northern Arizona. Colors are a product of minerals leeching through the Chinle Layer, mostly made of clay.
