Fall Colors Have Arrived

At the Kaibab National Forest near the North Rim of the Grand Canyon. The Quaking Aspens are the main producer of the colorfest. The foliage is near peak and I expect the color to last for a few more weeks although remnants from a hurricane coming in this week may have a negative affect.

On The Edge Of The Grand Canyon

My friend and fellow blogger, Ali Erdmann, visited the Grand Canyon for the first time recently and was overwhelmed.  However, it didn’t take her long to embrace the canyon and venture to its edge. Thankfully she is an experienced rock climber and yoga practitioner. These images were shot from the North Rim at Grand Canyon National Park.

Milky Way Wonder

The Milky Way on a clear night can get one to wonder about our world and beyond. My friend Alison’s first trip to the Grand Canyon was a wonderful experience, even at night. You can see her new blog at The Crooked Trail.   These images were made this past Friday night.

The Grand Grand Canyon

From last week’s trip to the North Rim.

You drive through thick Ponderosa Pine forests to get to the rim.

Grand Canyon National Park Is Not Just A Giant Lifeless Abyss

On the plateau surrounding the Grand Canyon, wildlife and wildflowers abound. It’s this part of Grand Canyon National Park that doesn’t make the cover of National Geographic but has a more subliminal charm.

Grand Canyon Milky Way…

I had to wait patiently for passing clouds to clear but the night sky at The Grand Canyon opened up beautifully around midnight this past Thursday

First Look At Kaibab National Forest

Spring has sprung and the Kaibab National Forest in Northern Arizona is coming alive.

Coalmine Canyon

Coalmine Canyon in Northern Arizona straddles the Navajo and Hopi Indian Reservations. Both claim Coalmine Canyon as theirs but whichever way you slice it, Coalmine is magnificent.  I recently met a Hopi Indian Tribal Leader traveling through Zion National Park and she informed me that photography and painting are not allowed on Hopi land. She did offer to show me their land, which the Hopi deem very sacred. I plan to follow up with her next time I visit the area.

On this day, gusting winds reaching 50 mph made photography difficult if fruitless, but I managed and hopefully all of these images are on Navajo Tribal Land.

Blue Canyon

Blue Canyon, which is near Coalmine Canyon and Ha Ho No Geh, is another remote landscape bordering Navajo and Hopi Tribal Land in Northern Arizona.
