Milky Way Images From White Pocket

White Pocket is an area of the Vermilion Cliffs National Monument in Northern Arizona. You have to drive 25 miles on sandy and rocky roads to get there. 4-wheel drive required. Daytime photos to follow. Shot on Thursday evening.

Milky Way On The Edge

Took some shots of the Milky Way on Friday night near the rim of the Grand Canyon. Jupiter is the bright sphere in these images.

Milky Way Wonder

The Milky Way on a clear night can get one to wonder about our world and beyond. My friend Alison’s first trip to the Grand Canyon was a wonderful experience, even at night. You can see her new blog at The Crooked Trail.   These images were made this past Friday night.

Milky Way Week

The Milky Way Galaxy will be easily observed in the night sky for the next week. The moon will be rising later into the night, each night.  Our solar system is at the edge of The Milky Way which is some 100,00 light years across. These images were shot last night at Zion National Park, Utah

Bryce Canyon, Hoodoos And The Milky Way

From Friday’s New Moon Phase. Clouds did pass through the area but parted just enough to get these shots. Thanks Moses!

Grand Canyon Milky Way…

I had to wait patiently for passing clouds to clear but the night sky at The Grand Canyon opened up beautifully around midnight this past Thursday

Death Valley Night Sky

While camping at Eureka Dunes last week, I decided to get the camera out for some night sky images. Dune photos to follow soon. The bright star at the top of images 1 and 3 is Sirius.
