Snow Arrived To East Zion

As it rained last week in the main canyon of Zion, it snowed on the Eastside of the park.  Since the snow was somewhat light, you can make out the eroded lines and shapes in the soft sandstone.

 

 

 

 

 

We Finally Received Some Rain In Southern Utah

It has been a very dry winter in Southern Utah but we did receive some precipitation at Zion NP this past week. It did snow on the Eastside of Zion and those images will follow.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

These Are Called Teepees But Not The Kind You Can Live In

A Moody Eagle Crags

This distorted rock formation can be viewed from my home but while out one day during a rainstorm, I pulled over and caught these images. Eagle Crags is just outside Zion National Park, Utah.

Observing Zion Canyon From Afar

Colors Persist At Zion NP

Autumn has decided to stick around a bit this year in Southern Utah. Two weeks ago these maple trees in Zion were mostly green. In years past, the colors would have been at peak. But patience and another trip up Zion Canyon enabled me to get these shots.

It seems like it’s later every year, but the Cottonwood trees near Zion NP are at peak color this week. These images were captured via drone.

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

 

Autumn Thriving At Upper Elevations Near Zion NP

Elevation makes a difference when searching for autumn colors. These images were taken at about 7,000 feet in elevation. The colors are probably gone today since we had a snowstorm bust through this area over the weekend.
