Rocky is the 3rd most visited national park in the United States. After my initial visit, I can see why. From soaring mountaintops, pristine lakes and abundant wildlife, Rocky Mountain National Park is why we set aside these amazing natural resources.
Although the leaves on the trees hadn’t begun to change color in Colorado mid-September, there were other colors popping. Surprisingly, wildflowers were still blooming.
Can you feel autumn coming? It’s my favorite season. The Colorado Rockies are a great place to experience fall colors and a little chill in the air. Aspen trees reach full color at different altitudes and latitudes. This photo was shot on October 13th, 2012 near Telluride. Peak colors are more likely to happen in the last week of September and first week of October in Colorado but it varies. See chart at bottom.
