I did my annual trek up to Kolob Reservoir near Zion National Park in Southern Utah. A lot of the fall colors had left but there was just enough to produce some good images. There was still a lot of Aspens that had green leaves so another trip is warranted.
I have now produced 1,000 blog posts over a period of 12 years so I average 85 per year so I publish one every 4 days or so. Wonder what the big hitters produce.
Fall colors have arrived to the glassy waters of Kolob Reservoir adjacent to Zion National Park, Utah
It’s one thing to see fall colors, but when you add some water, it’s a very cool look.
Our trip to Peru included a steamy, exhilarating push into the Amazonian Jungle. A two hour boat ride took us down the Tambopata River where there were no roads and few people.
We flew into Puerto Maldonado to begin the jungle excursion. This was the second jet plane needed to make it there since the first one experienced engine trouble and we turned back to Cuzco. I knew something was amiss when the pilot came on the intercom and asked us to ” remain calm!” It was a hard landing in Cuzco but we all remained calm….

The waterfalls at Zion National Park this week, which are mostly ephemeral, possessed an ethereal or apparitional look. This was due to the high winds that swept the water every which way. I wasn’t quite expecting the brilliant colors I encountered at Kolob Reservoir yesterday. I really caught the aspens at peak, peak color!. Kolob Reservoir is about 35 miles from Zion National Park in Southern Utah and at an elevation of some 8,000 feet.
In an effort to counter the public’s perception that California’s Agriculture is wasting our precious water, I noticed the following signage while traveling through the San Joaquin Valley.

In the Moab, Utah area, the Colorado River is ubiquitous. And it moves very slowly, unlike down stream at The Grand Canyon. The still waters make for some great photo opps as you’ll see in these images. I’m still on the road to Delicate Arch.
