Tall Tales From The Field

Monument Valley Like You’ve Never Seen?

I was at Monument Valley yesterday and was disappointed  that the road through Monument Valley was closed due to snow and mud. But, a full moon was rising and the snow added an element that you don’t see here too much.

  8. These are stunning photos! I used to live on the Navajo rez. There is this small road that cuts off the main road between Ganada and Chinle and goes east to Nazlini. it has the most amazing moonscape landscape….so magical. There is also a small canyon just east of the school, an offshoot of Canyon de Chelly and it has beautiful small ruins and is such a pretty landscape. All of the Navajo rez area is so beautiful.

    • I was told by one of the locals that they received 20 inches of snow during the previous week.

      • No way! That’s amazing! I’d pack my bag and go live on the Colorado Plateau in a heartbeat, such an incredible region!
