They’re Back………

The deadly Gigantic Peruvian Black Lizards are back to torment me. Measuring up to 3 feet long and 50 pounds in weight, these lizards are cousins to Indonesia’s Komodo Dragon. And it follows that once you see Lizards in the Spring, Rattlesnakes are not far behind.

  1. Hi Michael – Thanks for enjoying my blog on Panama. I’ve been trying to identify these lizards without luck and I found this on the internet”

There is no known species of “gigantic Peruvian black lizard”. While several black or dark-colored lizard species exist in Peru, they are not typically described as “gigantic”.The most well-known examples include the Peruvian Lava-Lizard (Microlophus peruvianus) and the Peruvian Bush-Anole (Polychrus peruvianus). These lizards have unique characteristics and are found in specific regions of Peru

I have spent time in the Komodo Islands shooting the Komodo dragon and have amazing shots…in fact I am leaving next week for Indonesia and will visit Flores and the K dragons in a few weeks again. they are turelyu formidable. Perhaps your comments are an insiders spoof? Loved you photos. If you saw Panama, then you have seen other travel blogs as well posted on the same site. I am very actively shooting, but mostly natural history these days. I’m 84 and have arrived at doing just what I love to do, not bothering to chase the busk…the busk is not as readily available for photographers as it once was, unfortunately, but the ride was phenomenal while the wave lasted! I will continue to enjoy your work. thanks. Susan. susanvanetten.wordpress.com
