A Stormy Grand Canyon

From last week’s trip which included, thunder, lightning, rain, angry clouds, pulling someone’s truck out of the mud and some nice rainbows

Wonderful photos Michael! When I lived in AZ I loved the monsoon season. I could smell the rain coming for hours, and then after the rain everything smelled so nice!

You’ve done a marvelous job of capturing a wide space and giving it a personal feel. I love the colors, composition — well, all of it!

Thanks for the kind words. The Grand Canyon never looks the same on each trip. That’s why I keep going back and it’s only 3 hours to the rim!

Some incredible pictures right there. Great work! How do you get a lightning shot like that? Luck and perseverance?

    1. Michael Andrew Just Avatar

Thanks for the nice comment. Getting lightning shots is partially luck and partially being in the right place at the right time.

Michael, these are fabulous pictures – rare finds especially the bolt of lightning and the rainbows. You’ve probably seen that a few of us AZ bloggers are meeting in Prescott on Sept. 15. If you’re around, we’d love to have you join us. Let me know. 🙂

Thanks for the nice words and the invite Marsha!

All fabulous but that rainbow one has got to be submitted for judging. It will surely win.

Thanks for the kind words. That rainbow appeared for about 5 minutes, in between showers

You’ve captured the beauty of this place. The rainbow is spectacular.

Thank you very much. Got the rainbow shot when there was a momentary lull in rain that went on for 5 hours

Very dramatic indeed! I’d like to see the Grand Canyon and Bryce Canyon some time but they’re a long, long, expensive way from the UK!

These photos remind me of the time when we witnessed a snow storm approaching from the North Rim. You capture well in these photos how a drastic transition from a quiet canyon to a storm filled environs happens so surprisingly.

    1. Michael Andrew Just Avatar

      The storms do approach quickly
