If you look closely, you’ll see a rock climber scaling a sheer 1,500 foot wall of sandstone at Zion National Park, Utah. He’s lugging a bag of gear so he can spend the night up there. This was taken late in the afternoon and he had a long way to the top which is Angel’s Landing, the hard way. The second photo gives you a better idea of the climb’s reach.

He will climb to the Angels’Landing trail and just walk down from there. If he had enough rope, he could rappel down this wall.

I’ve seen these daredevils on El Cap in Yosemite. You’ll never catch me sleeping on the face of a rock with only a few fasteners between me and certain death. They have amazing dedication to their sport though – gotta admire that.
