Odds And Ends From My Recent Cali Trip

And what a strange trip it was………..

Coastal fog has drifted in to the lush green valleys along California’s Pacific Ocean coastline
A slow exposure produces a continuous red line from a vehicle on California’s Pacific Coast Highway near Big Sur
A Giant Egret
A Raven with some attitude!
An Elephant Seal without any attitude.
The moon rises over a remote part of Death Valley National Park, California
Another solar farm has gone online in the high desert of California
Another lush green valley along California’s Pacific Ocean coastline
Fog drifts into an Almond Tree Orchard in California’s Central Valley.
Funky cloud formations appear over the California Coastline at Cambria
A waterfall appears a Garrapata State Park along California’s Pacific Coast near Carmel
It does snow in Death Valley.
Mount Whitney soars above the snow-covered Sierras and the Owens Valley of California
Taken with my Google Pixl phone while driving through the high desert. Not recommended.

“Smell the sea and feel the sky, let your soul and spirit fly”

That’s a line from the Van Morrison song “Brand New Day” That’s the feeling I get whenever I make my annual trek to California’s Pacific Ocean coastline. From Cambria up to Carmel, the surf was high and the sky was eclectic.

There were high surf warnings even before the tsunami warning occurred.

Both at the same time. Unfortunately my lens isn’t wide enough to capture both in the same frame. Taken at Glen Canyon National Recreation Area Thursday evening.

A More Realistic Look At The Pacific Coastline

The California Coastline is beautiful no matter how you photograph it.

Kolob Reflection

Near Zion National Park in Southern Utah is Kolob Reservoir. At approximately 8,000 feet in elevation, it’s a cool place to be during the sweltering months of summer experienced at lower elevations. And the glassy waters present a great opportunity for some reflection.

Northern Arizona Sunset

The sun doesn’t necessarily have to be in the shot for a good sunset image. Look away from the setting sun and you’ll see impressive color and light.

Gooseberry Sunset

For sunset images, don’t always shoot towards the sun. But look to the opposite direction to see how the light varies. You’ll see the light change from white to yellow, from yellow to orange and then orange to red just before the sun sets.

Autumnal Sunset

One Amazing Light Show

With monsoonal storms passing through Southern Utah, you never know what you may encounter. I think this was a close encounter of the best kind!  Clouds obscured the setting sun, setting up a dance of light and sunbeams that provided a visual feast.

Using my zoom lens, I was able to isolate specific areas that produced abstract images.

Southwest Sunset

After finishing my early evening mountain bike through the desert sagebrush, I relaxed to another beautiful sunset as storm clouds passed.
