This forest fire took place this past summer and destroyed the Grand Canyon Lodge. This footage from this week, is from the adjacent Kaibab National Forest where I would escape 4-5 times every summer to beat the Southern Utah heat. The visit was emotional, camping won’t be the same. I would relax and listen to Science Friday every Friday from a nearby radio station.
Many thanks to the brave men and women who fought this fire for months. The cleanup is ongoing.

Very sad.

Ugh, so devastating to see the damage. The news shows the blaze happening, but one rarely gets to see the after effects.

I was surprised that they gave access to this area

It is devastating. 😦 The Gila Wilderness had 130,000 acres burn this year in the various fires. I’m not in it like you are though. I pray for healing of human and land. It will be good to see your videos of new growth.

Look into Dane Wiginton’s reports and extensive indepth research and analysis on this kind of wilderness burning — we had it all summer in Canada to the past 3-5 years:

I have heard that fires are also caused by careless campers. I was surprised to watch videos on YouTube where people made fires during the draught. That would be strictly forbidden in European countries. But our areas are not as vast as in the US, it might be difficult to control campers in the US.

This one was started by lightning but yes, we get a lot of careless campers who don’t know how to douse the fire.
