In the movie, Forrest took off on a long run throughout the United States because as his mother said “Put the past behind you before you move on.”  His girlfriend had recently broke up with him so he ran for over 3 years and ended here at Monument Valley, Utah.    I was there on Monday for sunset but I drove there.
