Especially from above.
I’ve driven past this area in Utah many times, passing Factory Butte and its badlands. But when you observe the landscape from above, a whole new world comes alive.
Erosion from wind, water and time have carved a masterpiece. The soft soil below is of Mancos Shale which produces a blue-grey color while the more erosion-resistant yellow Emery sandstone protects the tops.
Look for flyover video later today.

Wow, such a beautiful landscape! Nature is so amazing. Happy New Year!

I can see why, it is very different than the Mojave Desert down here.

Mojave desert is pretty cool but Utah is way out there. I hope to explore some other areas soon in Utah

WOW, wow, wow! Love how this perspective is so detailed. It is striking how the erosion is like the branches of trees. Nature’s patterns repeat again and again. Gorgeous!

What dramatic scenery and photos. Are the flat top mountains volcanoes?

Thanks Katelon. There were volcanoes in the area years ago but these buttes are not. They’re very flat on top

I have the impression that you really enjoy your drone 😉 and I completely understand it, when I see those photos!

Yes, the drone is new but lots of fun especially when no one is around.
