Stunning! I love the Western side of Colorado, so pretty. Rico was a nightmare to live in but the area is so pretty! I was surprised at how friendly Aspen was even though it is such an expensive tourist town.

Rico is a very small town but in a beautiful setting. That area of Colorado is awesome, especially during autumn.

When I lived there, the few women my age treated me like less than dirt. They were awful. Years later, while briefly living in Vail Valley, I met the brother of my landlord. He was presently living in Rico and said he was now mayor of that town. He got the votes by walking into the bar (usually only the bar, P.O. and liquor store were open), bought everyone drinks and …hello to the new mayor 🙂

Good story, we stopped into a small cafe called Fireweed which made really good smoothies. I think it opened in 2021

Nice that things are opening up there. I painted a few signs for businesses while there…..the gas/convenience store place and a gift shop of sorts. They are probably gone now. I will probably drive through there again at some point but never stop there again 🙂

I was there a while bac and witnessed two people miss death by less than 10 ft! they were traversing that rock pile on the left when you heard a loud crack and a boulder the size of a washing machine came hurtling down that hill. The two people froze and the boulder went right between them at a very violent pace. they may have been 40 ft apart. The nickname deadly bells almost played out in front of me..
