Zion’s Observation Point Trail

It was 100 degrees Saturday and smoke from that nearby forest fire was in the air but my friend Jemmy and I made it to the top in about 2 hours. It’s 4 miles up and strenuous! All of theses images were taken with my new Google Pixel 2 smart phone camera, reputed to be the best camera in a phone. I did not edit any of these.  Very sharp and great color!

Zion’s Colorful Echo Canyon

Fall colors usually develop  first in Zion at Echo Canyon.  It’s about 1,000 feet higher in elevation than Zion’s main canyon.  Echo Canyon’s sandstone walls soar another 2,000 feet into the distant sky, thereby making it a marvelous trek in autumn.

A Trek Up To Zion’s Colorful Echo Canyon

The other day I was in Zion National Park, scouting out locations where the fall colors may be beginning. There were hints that fall foliage was about to burst but not this day. Echo Canyon is a steep climb about 1,500 feet above the Zion Canyon  floor and it was possible fall colors would appear there. I made the trek and was I thrilled that I did. Echo Canyon was aflame in color! There was still some green so the peak may not be for another week but Echo Canyon is spectacular in any season and the brilliant hues and pastels made it extraordinary. These images and more are available as prints including Gallery Canvas prints at Dawn2Dawn Photography

I’m headed over to Moab, Utah this week and the incredible Arches and Canyonlands National Parks.
