Alabama Hills Is In California!

It’s at the foot of the Sierra Nevada Mountain Range near Lone Pine, California. It’s made up of unusual rock formations and large boulders that climbers love to tackle. It is a desert type ecosystem located on Federal BLM land. You may have recognized the landscape as this area was used in the opening scene of the movie “Iron Man”.

The Alabama Hills are situated at the base of the Sierra Nevada Mountains near Lone Pine, California

That’s Mt Whitney at top, center. The tallest peak in the lower 48 states at 14,550 feet.

Lots of flying dust due to dry conditions in California

Great place for dispersed camping.

Desert Vegetation.

Not a bad view. Look for some Milky Way images from this spot coming soon!
