Fiddlenecks?

I never heard of fiddlenecks until I tried to find out what kind of flower I was photographing because there were about a billion of them. In the foothills of the Tehachapi Mountains along Highway 58 are acres and acres of them blossoming.

The foothills of the Tahachapi Mountains are in full bloom with Amsinckia, a genus of flowering plants commonly known as fiddlenecks.

  1. Wow, really beautiful. I just drove over the summit there weekend before last and the colors were only just beginning to show. It was pretty special to see it from the distance but I can only imagine what it looks like now. Thanks for posting these…
