This footage is from Southern Utah near Mexican Hat and is hard to explain. It’s named Raplee Ridge or Raplee Anticline. The mighty San Juan River runs through it but tectonic plates pushing upwards produced some elaborate patterns.

Near Monument Valley and Valley Of The Gods, Utah are some other interesting geologic wonders that defy description.

It’s just down the highway from the more proclaimed Monument Valley but this not so little gem is free and wild. It’s on BLM land near Mexican Hat, Utah. I’m definitely coming back soon here to try some night photography.
