In the high country of Southern Utah exist acres and acres of forests and pastures. Yesterday was a good day to beat the high heat (100 degrees F) at the lower elevations and garner some good photos from here and at Cedar Breaks National Monument(Pics to follow).
It’s all about The Light as far as I am concerned. Flat light is ugly and bright light is straining to the eye. But filtered light or varying light produces dramatic images as seen recently at Zion National Park, Utah. Zion National Park’s Cave Valley is located in the Kolob Terrace section of the park and straddles private property. Actually, about 16 acres of the images you’ll see here are for sale! Great place to build a new home. The views! The caves here contain Native American Indian pictographs and petroglyphs but are difficult to find.

The storm that ravaged California the past few days made its way to Southern Utah as I hoped and provided some great photo ops and much needed moisture.
At the upper elevations (8,000 feet) in and around Zion National Park where the aspen trees grow, the leaves have not changed much in color. They are mostly green still. Except for one spot I found Friday where the sun seems to shine all day long at Kolob Reservoir. Images below are of the colorful aspens and sunset along Kolob Terrace in Zion National Park.
