Things I Hate About Websites

Can’t believe websites I use have such lousy service. WP is pretty good though.

My photography website is hosted by Squarespace and I just noticed they are going to charge me $20 just for me to renew my website. Shouldn’t they be giving me $20 to renew?

What do you think??  I’m sure we all have same type of gripes, like not being able to talk to someone!

  1. Many people simply post their photos on Facebook or Instagram. If the goal is to make money, you’ll need to meet FB’s criteria in order to monetize your content. Same holds true with YouTube where you’d need between 500,000 to 1,000,000 subs to earn $2,000 per month. The harsh reality is that only 8% of YouTube channels make money. The same holds true for personal blogs.

For the rest of us, blogging is just a hobby that allows us to share and be a part of a larger community at little or no cost.

  2. I don’t know about pricing. I know that my “Walk with me” (Katelon Jefferys) blog has almost filled up my alloted WP media allowance so if I want to do more blogging on that site I’ll have to spring for upgrading. I understand a website charging for keeping and selling your photos on it as you make money via people being able to do biz through their site, correct? I pay for Idrive to save all my computer documents after losing years of research when my old computer got a virus and wiped all of it out. But it does all add up. I built my own website via Homestead, and used it when I still had a therapy practice. I know that you can set up a blog there and set up people paying for things via paypal and maybe others so you might want to check them out. But you’d have to create our website. They were pretty inexpensive though and didn’t crazy change things like WP does.
