Climbing To The Top Of Checkerboard Mesa

Checkerboard Mesa is located on the Eastside of Zion National Park and offers outstanding views. Fall colors are popping as well.

The beginning and goal. We had to go around to the left to get to the top from the backside.

Fall colors along the route. Lots of bushwacking required.

My friend Steve climbing without ropes. Nice views though.

I’ve seen Checkerboard Mesa in person a few times, but I had no idea you could climb it! I guess there was never anyone on it when we were there. Fascinating and beautiful.

I didn’t know either until recently. Won’t do again soon as it was a tough climb

Zion continues to amaze me. This looks like a beautiful time of year to visit.
