Death Valley’s Mesquite Dunes

Not nearly as tall as Eureka Dunes, the Mesquite Dunes are more popular(Tour Buses pull into the parking lot) and thus has many footprints in the sand.

Love the contrasting colors and textures…… is it as hot and dry as it looks?

In winter it is not hot although it was pretty warm at 80 degreesF. Summertime temps reach 120 degrees on average. Death Valley only receives about 2 inches of rain per year.

It was 80 here, yesterday, but I think Florida’s Space Coast is more humid, so one can’t quite equate the temperatures…. Must admit that the photo looked like it was hotter than 80.

Great contrast between the foreground and background and the light and shadow. To answer Foguth’s question…Yes, but it’s even hotter and drier than it looks.
