“The Sea Was Angry That Day My Friends”

This may have been what Costanza said on a Seinfeld episode but I believe it was a line that Hemingway wrote in “The Old Man And The Sea”.  I’m going with Hemingway because my recent trip to the California Coast reminded me more of a Hemingway novel than a Seinfeld episode. A Pacific Storm produced swells as big as I have ever seen. Most of these images were taken from Carmel through Big Sur and onto San Simeon.  The obligatory sunset images to follow soon. The breaking wave in this shot was about 25 feet although it is hard to tell. Needed a surfer or two out there to give some sense of scale.

Unfortunately, Point Lobos Natural State Reserve was closed due to the high surf but I got this shot from nearby Carmel Bay using a zoom lens.

This is a panorama where one frame is on top of another. I liked the big cloud above the beach.

By this time, the storm had passed through yielding sunny skies and azure waters.

I like all of these, but my favorite is the second one, where the breaking wave and the low line of clouds mirror each other.
