Ha Ho No Geh Canyon

It’s a Navajo Indian term meaning “too many washes”. That it has. I wasn’t able to get too close to the canyon from Coal Mine Canyon, but I used my 400 mm telephoto lens and a 2x extender to get these two shots from about 3 miles away. I did try hiking along the rim of Coal Mine Canyon to get closer but encountered thick mud and side canyons.  I’ve since learned that there is a dirt road that can get you pretty close to Ha Ho No Geh Canyon in Northern Arizona.

Thsanks Amy. I don’t use that extender too much but it worked out. I had the camera and lens mounted to a tripod, used Mirror Lockup, and a 10 second timer.

Amazing as usual. I have a question for you. This summer I am planning to drive out to Santa Fe, possibly camping, would you know what month would be the best? Thank you. Cornelia

Hi Cornelia. Santa Fe is pretty high in elevation so I would say July or August would be warm but not too hot. I also believe monsoons probably go thru there in the summer which are tremendous thunderstorms that make for great photos!
