Do Not Stop At The Bar Before Viewing North Rim

At the North Rim of The Grand Canyon sits The Grand Canyon Lodge which of course has a bar.  The bar is less than 100 feet from the rim. And at night, the rim has no lights and very steep drops into the abyss.  And with a thunderstorm approaching, the mood reminded me of one of those scenes in Apocalypse Now.  You better watch and know where you’re going. These images were captured last Thursday. Click on image for larger view.

He’s playing it smart, not too dangerous!

Thankfully there are rails at this point. The bar is very close.

The first of many lightning strikes. DO NOT hold onto the rails.

We get a lot of people from The Netherlands visiting this part of the country. And they are all very, very nice people!

Yikes! I’m getting vertigo just looking at your amazing photos! Seriously. Brave souls those who walk out to the edge. Thanks for sharing, though. A place I’ve always wanted to visit!
